If you’ve played Sims 4 long enough, you’ll notice it takes time for Sim characters to respond to commands. This can be irritating and gets worse if you let the commands pile up. One of the best Sims 4 quality of life mods you can use to fix the issue is The Simulation Lag Fix. This mod addresses the common lag issues, ensuring your Sim characters respond to commands more promptly. For example, if you ask your Sim to shower, they will respond to the command almost immediately. Please note that there have been known issues with this modding feature, and at the time of writing, it’s not clear whether they have been fixed. Additionally, if you use MC Command Center to fix game time speed, don’t use this mod.
Follow these steps to install Simulation Lag Fix on your Sims 4 game:
Download the mod file from the link above. Sims 4 mods typically come as .package or .ts4script files.
Open your Sims 4 Mods folder. The default location is: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods
Place the downloaded file directly into the Mods folder. You can organize mods into subfolders up to one level deep.
Launch The Sims 4 and go to Game Options > Other. Make sure "Enable Custom Content and Mods" is checked.
Restart the game if it was already running. The mod should now appear in your game.
Important: Always back up your save files before installing new mods. After Sims 4 updates, mods may need to be re-downloaded or updated by the creator.
Platform
The Sims 4 (PC/Mac)
Pro tip: If a mod stops working after a game update, check the creator's page for an updated version. Broken mods can cause the game to behave unexpectedly.
