If you’re looking for a way to make off-the-grid living work across every lot type, Better Off the Grid is a must-have mod. Since the default Off-the-Grid challenge only works on a limited selection of lots, this mod removes those limitations and allows Sims to live off the grid on any lot. It does this while also slowing the rate at which ice melts in refrigerators, so your food stays fresh for longer. I recommend using this Sims 4 off the grid mod on residential lots, tiny Home Residential lots, Haunted House Residential lots, and generic lots. It lets you create self-sufficient communities almost anywhere in the game world without relying on EA’s lot-type restrictions. Note that it has been updated for the Royalty & Legacy game patch.
How to Install
Follow these steps to install Better Off the Grid on your Sims 4 game:

Download the mod file from the link above. Sims 4 mods typically come as .package or .ts4script files.

Open your Sims 4 Mods folder. The default location is: Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods

Place the downloaded file directly into the Mods folder. You can organize mods into subfolders up to one level deep.

Launch The Sims 4 and go to Game Options > Other. Make sure "Enable Custom Content and Mods" is checked.
