Off-the-Grid is an official Sims 4 lot challenge that limits access to electricity and running water, forcing Sims to rely on alternative resources and self-sufficient living. While the challenge works well on its own, I like expanding it with custom content such as functional wells, food preservation mods, candle lighting, rustic kitchens, and homesteading objects to create a more immersive experience.

Below, I’ve gathered some of the best Sims 4 off-the-grid CC I use in my own saves. Whether you’re building a realistic farm, a remote cottage, a survival challenge lot, or a historical settlement, these free downloads will help every part of your Sim’s daily life feel more authentic.

The Off-Grid Survival Mod adds hunting, material gathering, crafting, and food collection activities to your game. You’ll get a Survival Crafting Workbench and a Wooden Animal Trap, which allow your Sims to gather resources and create useful items while living away from modern conveniences.

To access the mod’s interactions, you’ll need to assign your Sim the Survivalist trait in CAS. Once active, you’ll unlock various rabbit-hole activities such as:

• Gather Materials
• Hunt Wild Turkey
• Hunt Wild Boar
• Go Hunting for Deer

Note that each activity lasts approximately two hours and adds gathered resources to your Sim’s inventory. The workbench may also appear sideways after placement. If this happens, simply rotate and reposition it until it sits correctly on the lot. You’ll also need at least one wooden plank in your inventory before creating an animal trap.

For the animal trap, create the trap using the Survival Crafting Workbench and place it anywhere on your lot. Remember to place multiple traps to increase resource production and check them every 24 hours.
