The Sims 4 Burglars Are Back

The famous Sims 4 burglar is finally back and free for everyone with the base game. The robber’s name is Robin Banks, who during the day appears as a normal law-abiding citizen, but at night wreaks havoc in Sim homes. She sneaks into your household while you’re fast asleep and steals anything of value before making her escape.
If you hear her breaking in, call the police immediately, and they will apprehend her. Alternatively, you can install a Burglar System in your home to ensure the police arrive on time to apprehend Robin Banks. Handy and brave Sims can upgrade their Burglar Alarm system to:
- Automatically call the police
- Reduce the chance of it breaking,
- Or zap the Burglar, forcing her to drop the stolen goods
Another great option for combating Sims 4 burglars is to face them one-on-one. This will entail getting into a physical fight, and if your Sim has been hitting the gym, they have a higher chance of winning.
Note that burglar visits will happen occasionally to maintain the suspense and chaos of these characters. However, if you’re up for a challenge and want them to appear more often, turn on the Heist Havoc Lot Challenge. In this Lot Challenge, your Burglar Alarm system could potentially fail, leaving your items vulnerable to Robin Banks.
EA Confirms Sims 4 Burglars Return
A few hours ago, EA made an announcement on their X (formerly Twitter) account about the Sims 4 burglars return in an 8-second video. The video doesn’t reveal much other than simply confirming that burglars, a popular feature from previous games, are returning on 25th February at 8 A.M Pacific Time. Once they do, we will update this article with more information regarding the Sims 4 burglar system.
A Classic Feature Returns

Sims 4 burglars were a fan-favorite element in The Sims franchise, first introduced in The Sims (2000) and appearing in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3. These sneaky criminals would break into Sim’s homes at night, triggering alarms and causing frantic reactions from sleeping households.
The lack of burglars in The Sims 4 has been one of the most talked-about omissions since the game’s launch in 2014, with players frequently requesting their return. This is because it was a fun and chaotic element that enhanced gameplay for many. Players could install a burglar alarm that would alert police to apprehend the burglar. Players could also apprehend them with the brave trait.
The burglar stole anything from jewellery to toilets, which made it even more exciting.
What to Expect

At the time of writing, we still aren’t sure what you can expect with the Sims 4 burglar update. Details are still emerging, but players can expect new animations, interactions, and possibly even new security measures to help protect their Sim’s valuables.
Players can likely expect a mix of nostalgia and fresh mechanics that align with The Sims 4’s gameplay style. Or maybe a new criminal career track that allows Simmers to commit burglaries, steal objects, and rob other Simmers to make a living?
Questions remain about how they will function – will new traits, fears, or gameplay systems be tied to them? Will burglars only appear at night, or will they be craftier than ever? Some speculate that this feature could be part of an upcoming game update or expansion pack.
The latest EP to drop is the Sims 4 Business and Hobbies, which will be released on March 6, 2025.
Community Reactions
The Sims community has erupted with excitement following the confirmation. Many players have taken to social media to celebrate the return of an iconic gameplay feature, with some reminiscing about the terrifying yet thrilling moments burglars provided in past games.
Simmers are already sharing their ideas, from setting up elaborate burglar alarm systems to embracing the scare and chaos as burglars wreak havoc. Others are hoping for an expansion of the criminal aspect of gameplay, perhaps with burglars being playable or tied into existing careers.
