Sims Challenges have been around since Sims 1, but really found popularity in Sims 2 when The Legacy Challenge began. Now there are a ton of challenges to choose from. All written by sims players like you and me.
I find myself getting bored with the sims 4 pretty often, so this sims 4 challenges list is a great reference to have whenever that boredom hits.
I’ve included a variety of different challenge types including building challenges, CAS challenges, occult challenges, and family gameplay challenges.
You’ll notice that the majority are sims 4 legacy challenge variations. It’s the most popular challenge type (and for good reason!)
Videos have been included with some of the challenges on this list, showing other simmers completing them. I hope that it helps to spark inspiration for your challenge gameplay!

If you’re always looking for a new sims 4 challenge to complete, then be sure to check back in, because I do update this post on a frequent basis with new challenges that I find around the sims community.
If you have no idea what kind of challenge you’d like to do, you can pick a challenge at random by using google’s random number generator, set the max at 75 (or whatever number the list is up to now), and go to the number in this list that correlates. Happy Simming!
1. Not So Berry Challenge Version 2.0
This challenge was created by lilsimsie & alwaysimming. It was updated by SimQueen8.
Unless you’re a new simmer, it’s likely that you’ve heard of the Not So Berry Challenge. It’s one of the best sims 4 challenges out there.
But if you haven’t, the premise is that each generation of the challenge is based around a color (ex: mint, yellow, plum, etc.). Each sim generation will then have their own specified traits, storyline, career, and aspirations.
This version has been updated to utilize gameplay elements that have been introduced in newer sims packs since the original challenge came out years ago.

2. Differences In The Family Tree
This challenge was created by samtastic-sims.
This is another generational sims challenge. Each generation has a theme (nature, big city, lover, etc.) and a list of objectives.
One of the points that comes up again and again in the rules of this challenge is that it’s supposed to be fun. So if you’re not having fun with a particular objective, skip it!

3. The Sims 4 Stereotypes Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by carolinessimscreations.
This sims 4 challenge is somewhat self-explanatory. You’ll be basing each generation around a stereotype.
For example, the fourth generation will be based around ‘the nerd’ stereotype. Your sim will be a geek and a loner who is working towards the computer whiz aspiration.

4. Raiding to Riches – Freegan Challenge
This challenge was created by realsugabuns.
This is a challenge that combines ideas from the teen runaway challenge and the rags to riches challenge. You’ll be playing in Evergreen Harbor as a teen or young adult who is boycotting greed and excessive waste.
Like in rags to riches, you’ll start with absolutely nothing but a plot of land. However, your goal isn’t to get rich and have a big fancy house. Your sim wants to furnish their home with dumpster dive finds and never holds onto more than $5000 at a time.

5. Sims 4 Career Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by Risshella.
This is another rags to riches style challenge. You’ll start with nothing. There’s also the option to start with $1800 for an easier start.
Each generation in this challenge focuses on one career and the skills associated with it. In addition, there’s an optional side quest for each generation. Quest examples include becoming a mermaid or live in a penthouse apartment.

6. Breed Out The Ugly Challenge
The challenge rules were written up by MaggieMarley.
A few years back, I couldn’t get away from ‘breed out the ugly’ challenge videos on my Youtube feed. It’s a pretty simple and fun sims 4 challenge.
Your legacy founder should be as ugly or as weird as possible. You may need to download cc sliders to make them extra crazy looking. Then you’ll have babies until you get a normal looking heir.

7. Live For Something – TS4 Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by aliennooboo.
This legacy challenge allows you to play through almost all of the skills, aspirations, reward traits, collections, and worlds over the course of 11 generations.
The focus is on your sim’s life experiences and not so much on career or family life like other legacy challenges.

8. The Sims 4 Apocalypse Challenge
The challenge rules were written up by Sims Legacy Challenge.
In this challenge your sim will be revitalizing the city of Glassbolt after the meltdown of a nuclear power plant. Your goal is to lift a series of restrictions that are in place.
Your sim should be an extraordinary sim. The challenge suggests using your sim from the wonder child challenge (#17 on this list). But if you have no interest in playing that challenge, you’ll find a wonder child on the sims 4 gallery using the #wonderchild.

9. The Decades Challenge

The decades challenge is a historical sims 4 challenge. It takes you through the history of the United States from the 1890s to the 2010s.
This challenge requires a lot of dedication to stay historically accurate, but it’s worth a try. The let’s play of this challenge are super fun to watch!

10. The Alphabet Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by wuerdig.
This is a simple challenge with a self-explanatory name. You’ll start off with a founder whose name starts with the letter ‘a’. You’ll then play through the generations until you have an heir with a name starting with ‘z’.

11. Homeless to Famous Sims 4 Challenge
This challenge was created by Sim Diva.
A rags to riches style challenge that focuses around the fame features that came with the Sims 4 Get Famous. Your sim will start their lives living an empty apartment choosing between either owning a guitar or a keyboard.
You’ll then work your way to the top of either the acting or entertainer career. But the catch is that you can’t get a job until your apartment is completely furnished and fixed up. You’ll have to spend your time scavenging, attempting to get tip money, and crafting before you can pursue your true dream of being famous.

12. Sims 4 Mystical Motherhood: The Occult Baby Challenge
This challenge was created by simssav.
This could be a fun sims 4 challenge if, like me, you don’t often play with the occult sims offered in game. In this challenge, you’ll attempt to have a baby with each of the occult sims in the game.
This includes having a baby with Father Winter, Tragic Clown, and even Servo Bot. The occult kids will then have skills and objectives that will need to be completed to finish the challenge.

13. Stardew Valley Sims 4 Generations Challenge
This challenge was created by chellplays.
A Stardew Valley inspired Sims 4 Challenge. If you’re a fan of both games, then you know how cool this is.
I’ve found several variations of this challenge that have different goals. For example, there’s the Simdew Valley Challenge that plays out similar to Stardew Valley itself.
What I’ve linked below is the Stardew Valley Generations Challenge. In this challenge, each generation will be led by a different character from Stardew Valley. For example, you’ll start off as Abigail and end the challenge as Shane.

14. Astrology Legacy
This challenge was created by taeskii, leaflysims, tropiccoconut.
This is another generational sims 4 challenge where each generation has traits, careers, and aspirations assigned. This legacy challenge is based around the planets in our solar system.
For example, generation two is Mercury. You’ll be a gloomy, outgoing insider who works in social media. There’s also several other tasks you’ll need to accomplish each generation to complete the challenge.
It’s a fun way to get to play through all of the content that sims 4 has to offer!

15. The Sims 4 Vampire Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by kamio.
In this legacy challenge version, you’ll start a family of vampires who attempt to turn as many sims as possible and found new covens.
Your vampire family could take many different paths depending on the type of vampires they wish to be. Good, bad, or a mix of both?

16. The Animal Kingdom Challenge
This challenge was created by bluvelvetpancakes, simmingstrawberry, lilplummerbob, thegrannypotato and, simsinablanket.
This is a five generation challenge to help you explore all that the animals in the sims 4 have to offer.
Your founding sim and their dog will live on the island in Brindleton Bay. You’ll move through various generational challenges such as marrying a cat lover to owning a fox to running a vet clinic.

17. The Wonder Child Challenge
The rules of this challenge were written up by Sims Legacy Challenge.
In the wonder child challenge, your sim has been randomly selected to participate in a government project. During this government project, they’ll be assigned a mate, be given $22,000, and give birth to a ‘wonder child.’
The entire lives of your sims must be dedicated to raising this child to the very best of their abilities. If you’re interested in a sequel to this challenge, check out the apocalypse challenge at #8 on this list.

18. The Sims 4 Aspirations Challenge
This challenge was created by simqueen8.
The aspirations challenge gives you the opportunity to play through each of the aspirations in the sims 4.
To win this challenge, you’ll need to complete each aspiration, but it must be with a new generation. It will be at least over 30 generations so make sure you’re in it for the long haul!

19. Whimsy Stories Legacy Challenge

The whimsy stories legacy challenge is quickly gaining popularity among simmers. This is a 10 generation challenge where you’re given a story prompt for each one with various tasks and objectives.
The point of this challenge is to play the sims in a fun and different way than you typically would. If you’re feeling bored with the sims 4, I would definitely give this challenge a go.

20. Bad to Good Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by latenel.
Another generational legacy challenge with a specific theme. In this challenge, you’ll go through ten generations starting out with a troubled family and ending up with a peaceful home by the 10th generation.
Each generation is assigned its own color, traits, careers, aspirations, and tasks. You’ll start with black and end at white.

This challenge is much like a legacy challenge except for the fact that your sims live in a bunker. Your goals will be to build up your bunker, make lots of money, and add new generations to the family tree.

In this generational challenge, you’ll be creating your very own ‘sim garden.’ Each generation, will be a different flower such as rose, snapdragon, sunflower, etc., with specific tasks and career goals.
This challenge has a limited amount of rules. The main goal is just to explore the sims content in a fun, new way.

23. All That Weather Legacy Challenge

A five generation legacy challenge where each generation is associated with a weather type. Each generation will have a specific set of tasks that need to be completed to ‘win’ the challenge.
For example, the second generation is Blizzard and they must have at least four children plus a handful of other tasks that will make their life a whirlwind.

This is a deserted island sims challenge. You’ll start with a pair of sims who are fighting against the will of the gods.
Dice rolls will be used as ‘god’ to control your sims and their island surroundings. Your ultimate goal is to have 8 sims on the island that are at level 4 in fishing, fitness, and gardening.

The 100 baby challenge is definitely in the top 5 of most popular sims 4 challenges. The objective is simple. You’ll start out with a female sim who will attempt to give birth and raise 100 babies as quickly as possible.

26. Sims 4 Trait Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by Sarah Marshall.
Each generation of this legacy challenge is based around a specific trait. But not from the sims 4 game, just general traits that people posesss.
For example, the first generation is all about responsibility. Your sim is old-fashioned and has the aspiration of a successful lineage. The next generation is determined. The heir is a nerd who wants to travel to Sixam. And so on.

This a really fun sims challenge based around the features from The Sims 4 Get Famous. You’ll play through five generations, with each generation trying to maintain a level of fame.
Each generation will have their own ‘thing’ (cooking, writing, acting, etc.) that gets them famous and their own way of handling that fame.

28. Greek God Legacy Challenge

A sims challenge inspired by Greek mythology. In this ten generation legacy challenge, the heirs will be associated with a Greek god.
For example, in generation five, you’ll play as Aphrodite, the goddess of love. You’ll be a serial romantic sim who likes to hook up with couples. Spicy!

This is quite an interesting legacy challenge. Your goal is to end up with 10 ghosts who’ve all died in different ways. This challenge is a great way to play with death in the sim 4 if it isn’t your typical playstyle.
Each generation not only has a death requirement, but an aspiration, a trait, and a backstory.

30. Stranded – A Multi-Household & Rotation Survival Gameplay Challenge
This challenge was created by undressyourbones.
I love this sims 4 challenge idea. It has a great story to it. Essentially, your sim was going through a tough time in their life and wanted to find some adventure, so they decided to go on a cruise. The cruise ship ends up crashing in the middle of the ocean and your sim washes ashore on a random island.
The goal is to rebuild all 3 islands of Sulani. This challenge is a big one with lots of rules and goals. It’s also well…challenging, but super fun!

I’ve never seen a sims 4 challenge like this one and I thought it sounded super interesting! In this challenge, you’ll play through 10 generations of ‘best bros’ who live together.

If you’ve ever watched The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, this challenge is just a sims version of the show. I guess it’s more of a competition than it is a challenge, but it’s is super entertaining to watch the mess your sims can get themselves into when it comes to romance.

40. The Alien Adoption Challenge
The challenge rules were written up by Sims Legacy Challenge.
This challenge comes with a great back story. An alien ship has crashed with 100 alien infants and a dead alien mother inside. Your sim has been chosen to adopt one of these alien infants. You’ll need to care for the infant, but also study them closely.
The catch is that you’re never allowed to have the alien sim as the active sim. Along with this are other goals you’ll need to complete before your young alien reaches adulthood.

In this challenge, you are playing as several different families within a royal kingdom. You’ll have the royals, the nobles, the merchants, and the peasants.
Each family class comes with its own set of perks and disadvantages. The bulk of this challenge is in the storytelling, with less concrete goals in mind.

This is a sims 4 legacy challenge with a twist. Every sim in the challenge has to be made using story mode. This means that your sim’s story is up to the game itself.

A sims 4 legacy challenge meant to create a variety of family gameplay. This is a 10 generation challenge with a different set of rules and objectives for each generation.

In this challenge, you’ll be creating the ultimate foster family by adopting and raising 50 children. I like to think of it as a variation to the 100 baby challenge (#25 on this list.)
This challenge comes in three different modes: easy, medium, and hard. Each with their own set of rules.

46. Dreamhouse Challenge
This challenge was created by nekochan-simmer.
The Dreamhouse challenge has you place your sim’s dream home on a lot in your sim’s neighborhood. You can either find one off of the gallery or build it yourself.
Your sim will then work their way up to owning it. Hopefully, by the time they reach adulthood.

This challenge was created by StardustX. It was updated by Stormy Dayz Gamez.
The runaway teen challenge is another super popular sims 4 challenge. It’s rags to riches style where your sim starts with absolutely nothing and works their way up.
Unfortunately, in this challenge your sim is a teen on the run, so you’ll have restrictions. For example, you can no longer go to school or visit certain lots without the risk of being caught.

The flipping house challenge has a detailed backstory that you’ll want to read before attempting. However, I’ll give you a tiny glimpse into the challenge.
Your sim starts out with $20,000 and the task of purchasing and flipping houses until you can earn enough money to purchase your own dream home.

This challenge was created by MintyMango.
When you’re in the sims 4 menu panel (you know the one where you can save your game?), you may have noticed a button titled ‘achievements.’ These are different tasks that the sims team came up with for the sims 4.
In this challenge, your goal is to complete a variety of those achievements throughout 10 generations. It’s a legacy style challenge with lots of difficult objectives to complete.

50. Townie Life Challenge

This challenge is all about getting to know your neighbors. Your sim has signed up for Townie Exchange Program and will act as guest in the homes of premade & townie sims.
The challenge includes a rags to riches element, but the real fun is deciding how you’re going to intrude on your fellow neighbor’s lives. Will you help them out or wreak havoc?

This sims 4 challenge is inspired by the cooking competition show MasterChef. You’ll have control over eight different sims who will act as the contestents. There will be weekly challenges and assignments at the MasterChef Studio.

This sounds like a really fun sims 4 challenge. You have to create a sim with an aspiration but give them traits that work against their aspiration. You are playing as their “life coach,” but can only give them three actions a day.

This is one of the best sims 4 challenges to get you to play with new elements of the game. Each generation you’ll be completing collections.
For example, in the fourth generation, you’ll need to complete the aliens, space rocks, geodes, and robots collections.
This challenge reminds me a lot of the way I play games like Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing. I will most definitely be playing through this one!

56. A Free Will Experience
This challenge was created by BreeMiles, but inspired by other free will challenges.
This free will challenge requires you to create a houseful of random sims and one pet. You have no ability to control any of them.
You’ll earn points in this challenge by your sims doing ‘positive’ things such as cooking a meal or repairing an item. You’ll lose points if your sims do ‘negative’ things like pee on themselves or put trash on the floor.

57. The Neighborhood Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by Just Keep on Simming.
The point of this challenge is to show you all of the great features of each world in the sims 4. Every generation will find themselves in a new world with a set of tasks and rules associated with that neighborhood.

This is another challenge where the focus is on collecting everything you can find in the sims. However, in this one, you’ll need to save one piece of everything you find to turn your home into a museum.

59. 24 Day Fiance Challenge
This challenge was created by Charc.
This challenge plays out similar to the TV show ’90 Day Fiance.’ Your sim will go on vacation and meet another sim who will become their fiance.
Unfortunately, you’ll only be able to communicate by phone and computer once your sim goes home. However, if they’re able to save up $1500, they can take another vacation for 2 days max to visit their fiancé. The lovers can’t get married until at least the 23rd day of their relationship.
There are also goals for each sims pack that include some romantic things to do with your sim’s partner.

60. Four Immortal Sisters Challenge
This challenge was created by tigger89 and updated by Pixel Champion.
In this challenge there are four sisters, each having a personality aligning with the elements: air, water, earth, and fire. Your goal is to remain immortal by sacrificing sims to the cowplant. You’ll also be tasked with raising the fire sister’s child.

61. Fairytale Legacy Challenge
This challenge was created by JUST-A-SPACE-GAY.
For this sims legacy challenge, each generation is associated with fairytale characters. For example, generation 3 is Cinderella. This sim must be good, neat, and do all of the housework.
This continues on through different fairytale storylines until the 10th generation.

62. The Ten-Gen Townie Dynasty Challenge
This challenge was created by Metropolis Man.
I feel like there’s a lot of potential for drama in this challenge! The goal of the ten-gen townie challenge is to produce a 10th-generation sim who is the descendent of 10 different townie families.

This a legacy challenge meant to get you the most out of your sims 4 content. Each generation has its own storyline that focuses on a few packs at time.
For example, generation two focuses a lot on the Snowy Escape pack and playing through the Salaryperson career.

The black widow challenge is a very popular sims 4 challenge. The goal is to have your female sim kill off her husbands until she has 10 tombstones.
To make the challenge harder, you can also complete serial romantic aspiration by the time your sim hits adulthood alongside completing the normal challenge.

Take Duchess Lucine for example. She was talked about in the description of the “Moonlit Rose in the Garden” painting from The Sims 4 Vampires. She supposedly painted those in the 17th century. So cool!
(I also highly recommend just searching through this challenge’s tag on Tumblr because simmers are SERIOUSLY talented. My mind was blown🤯)

It’s advertised as a “new way to play the sims 4.” You’ll be building up the sims world throughout time while completing milestones with your family.
It’s pretty in-depth and requires set-up, so you’ll want to read through the entire challenge website linked below before getting started.
82. Teen-a-Day CAS Challenge by DizzyWhims
The challenge is simple: create a teen sim that fits the prompt for each day.
This is a GREAT way to add a variety of teen sims to your high school gameplay and fill up those save files!
83. Legacy Challenge with Mods by Must Have Mods
It’s my challenge!🤗 It’s the original legacy challenge but with ✨mods✨
The purpose of the challenge is to explore mods, add some newness to your sims gameplay, and create more interesting legacy storylines using custom traits, aspirations, and careers.
Unlike the newer legacy challenges that have specific goals and requirements for each generation, this challenge is more open-ended and has its own scoring system.
If you love playing with mods, then this challenge is PERFECT for you.
