After months of speculation and the Sims 4 Life and Death expansion pack leaking online, EA has officially confirmed the next pack. This comes shortly after the launch of the Lovestruck expansion pack, which still has many bugs that Sims needs to fix. However, it’s not unusual for the Sims franchise to release a new pack before fixing or working on the previous ones.

EA Confirms Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack
EA has officially confirmed the rumor that a death-based pack is the next expansion pack in the Sims 4 franchise. Life and Death will drop on October 31st, just in time for Halloween and the spooky season. However, players will get a sneak peek and first look at the Life and Death expansion pack on October 3rd.
EA confirmed the pack in a video posted on their official X (formerly Twitter) page. Alongside the Life and Death expansion pack, players can expect free updates, new Sims 4 Kits, and a Reaper’s Rewards event.
So far, there aren’t many details regarding what the new expansion will feature or contain. One aspect we can confirm is that the hooded figure, Grim, will make an appearance in the pack.
The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack Leaks Online
Retailer Instant Gaming has possibly leaked the next expansion pack for the Sims 4 on their website. According to the new listing on their site, the Sims 4 Life and Death expansion pack has a release date of 2024, but no other information has been given regarding the release.
While Sims has not made any official statements or confirmation, such leaks are not new in the Sims franchise. Last year, Instant Gaming also leaked the Sims 4 Rent expansion pack before its official release, but it had a different name – The Sims 4 Rental Houses.
So, it’s likely that the Sims 4 Life and Death is a placeholder for what will be the franchise’s next expansion pack. Many Simmers think the new expansion pack will focus on funerals and giving Sims a proper burial. Unfortunately, we don’t know what this means for the Grim Reaper and his role in a dying Sim’s life.
In addition to the leak, many players in the community who always know things ahead of time have corroborated the story. One such player is SimMattically, who has been making tweets since July. One of the first posts they made as a teaser was this:
Soon after Instant Gaming published the leak on their website, SimMattically made a tweet seemingly to confirm that the rumors were true.
Note that all these are speculations, and we can’t determine if this is the next expansion pack.
What Does this Mean for Sims 4?
It’s interesting that the new expansion pack is called Life and Death. Judging from the title, it’s likely to have something to do with death and funerals. Sims has always had death themes such as the death flower, ghost sims, resurrect sims, and sim’s soul. However, it has never had any theme regarding funerals or burials.
Normally, the Grim Reaper appears and takes the dead sim’s life, but that’s just about it. Hopefully, the new expansion pack allows Simmers to bury their loved ones and honor their memory. Similarly, with Halloween coming up, we hope the expansion pack features spooky vibes, Halloween-themed outfits, and storylines.
Other speculations are that the new expansion may feature some interesting death types and careers with killing sims or dead sims, such as mortuary attendants.
