The Blast From the Past Event is now on Week 2, and players must complete a series of objectives to earn rewards. Unfortunately, many players have complained that the study historical display Sims 4 feature doesn’t work. This has prevented players from progressing and completing the past quests.

The feature may be bugged, which is why many players can’t study historical displays at a museum. EA hasn’t released any information regarding the bug report yet, but we can only hope solutions are underway.

Why Study Historical Display Sims 4 Feature Isn’t Working

the futures past museum

At the time of writing, we don’t know why the study historical display Sims 4 quest isn’t working for many players. Seasoned Simmers have taken to the EA forum, X (formerly Twitter), and Reddit to complain about the issue.

One player stated:

“I’m trying to study a historical display at the museum for the event and no matter what I click all I get is view with Emits picture on it. I’ve tried all my museums. I even took out my mods and repaired the game and still the same thing.”

Another player added:

“I sent my Sim to the museum to study a display, but they just stand there! No animation, no moodlet, nothing. Is this feature broken?”

And finally:

“Tried with multiple Sims in different worlds—still doesn’t work. Is this just for decoration now?”

There are plenty of these across the Electronic Arts Forum, and we can only assume it’s a bug that’s causing the problem. Bugs aren’t new to the Sims 4 gameplay and over the years, there have been plenty of bug reports and fixes to help make gameplay as seamless as possible for players.

If you’re experiencing the same issue, please report it on the official EA Forum.

How to Study Historical Display Sims 4

The only way to complete the week 2 Blast from the past event is to complete all quests, from the time quests and search objects to the building time travel component. Luckily, players have found workable solutions that allow you to study a historical display at a museum. Here are a few:

  1. Some players suggest trying the view option and letting your Sim view the painting or sculpture for an insanely long time. The exact amount of time is still unclear.

  2. Others suggest using the feature on paintings instead of sculptures. The feature seems to be bugged on sculptures, which prevents players from completing the quest.

  3. Another solution that has seemed to work for many is to select View and set the time to triple speed.

It’s wise to try all of these solutions to see if the study historical display Sims 4 will work. You can visit the four default EA museums, which include:

  • Municipal Muses in Willow Creek

  • The Future’s Past in Oasis Springs

  • Deadgrass Discoveries in Brindleton Bay (Cats & Dogs)

  • Plumbob Pictures Museum in Del Sol Valley (Get Famous)

Will EA Fix It?

Many players hope that EA will patch the feature soon, as museum visits feel less immersive without it. Given the backlash, it’s likely that a future game update or bug fix patch will address the issue.

Until then, museum-loving Sims might have to admire historical displays from a distance without actually learning anything from them.
