Frustrated that you can’t control your pets in Sims 4? I was too!

Luckily, I found the sims 4 playable pets mod which gives us the ability to control our pets and check on their needs. Here’s everything you need to know about the mod in 2022.

Let’s start with the biggest question surrounding this mod: Does the playable pets mod still work?

Yes! As of March 2022, the playable pets mod is still working. Believe me, I’m as surprised as you are. It seemingly hasn’t been updated in YEARS, but still plays perfectly. Thank goodness.

Sims 4 Playable Pets Mod

To have playable pets in your sims 4 cats and dogs gameplay, you’ll need to download the playable pets mod that’s on Sims 4 Studio. I’ve included the link here. Once you’ve downloaded the mod, extracted the file, and added the .package and .ts4script files to your mods folder, you’re good to go. Start up your game and you’ll have the ability to control your pets!

When I played around with this mod, I actually didn’t find myself using it to control my pets as much as I found myself using it to check on my pet’s needs. I’ve had WAY too many pets run away in the sims 4 because I didn’t realize how low their affection need was.

Using this mod, I could check up on my pet’s needs as often as I check on my sims’ needs. And here’s a pro tip for any other mod lovers out there like me, if you have UI Cheats Extension mod installed, these mods work together, so you’re able to easily raise your pet’s needs just like you can with your sims.

That was a total game-changer for me! Pets in the sims 4 can be difficult to take care of (at least I think so. 🤷‍♀️) Having both of those mods in my game made it SO much easier to care for my pets, especially when my sims were too busy with their careers, kids, hobbies, etc.

Another thing I liked about this mod is that it gave me the ability to have my pets take care of themselves. Like I said above, sometimes my sims were just too busy for their pets, but with this mod, I didn’t have to worry as much about that.

I could click anywhere and have my pet pee or sleep. I could get them to play with toys if they were low on fun or interact with sims or pets they knew to fill up their affection needs. I could even click on a puddle of water and have them drink. Pets became way less stressful.

Sims 4 Control Pets Cheat

There’s also a way to make pets playable in the sims 4 using a cheat instead of a mod. Well…kind of. You now have to have a mod to enable this cheat to work, so there’s that.🤔

The playable pets mod is one of the best mods for pets in sims 4 if you play with cats and dogs a lot! You’re able to control your pets and make them go pee, eat food, interact with their owners, play with toys, and more. Plus you can check up on their needs so they don’t get neglected accidentally.
